Gout In Foot is one of these problems that have to do with the way uric acid is metabolized in the body. Gout is categorized as a type of arthritis. Everyone is not affected in the same manner with gout in foot. While one person may be affected only once, others may fight this for years. One thing that the person needs to avoid at all cost is a condition stemming from untreated gout in foot, called renal calculi. Every person diagnosed with gout in foot is at risk for developing renal calculi if they do not seek treatment through their doctor.

When someone has high uric acid content, they have a defect in that system of metabolism of uric acid from the body. The high uric acid levels and its salts can rake havoc on the human body. These acids build up in the blood, targeting joints. This excess accumulation causes pain, redness and swelling of the joints, with fever and chills present. Sometimes small red and painful nodules will arise at the joint just under the skin. Generally joints targeted may be those furtherest from the center of the body, and the first joint that gout in foot will attack is the great toe.

Researches have found a genetic connection to gout in foot and men are more prone to gout in foot then women. At the first indication of suspected gout in foot, uric acid levels will need to be tested and decreased in order to prevent further destruction of the gout in foot or great toe joint. If uric acid is not brought under control it will damage kidney tissue, causing renal calculi. The doctor will do blood work in order to determine at what level the uric acid is. He will order a medication that will help bring acid and salt levels down to a more normal range through helping to increase elimination of these fluids. These medications will also help to decrease inflammation within the joints. The doctor may also prescribe a purine-free diet.

The foods to avoid that are high in purines is beef, pork, bacon, animal organ meats, lamb, seafood, foods with high yeast content such as would be seen in some breads. All alcoholic beverages should be avoided at all cost. Years ago gout was a household term used in content as the “beer drinker’s disease”. When someone was diagnosed with gout it was automatically assumed that they were a heavy beer drinker. This concept stems from the fact that beer is one source that contains the highest levels of prurine. And, this was a known fact in the public’s eyes, however the list of foods to avoid due to similar high prurine levels were not entirely known years ago, and neither was the fact that high uric acid levels have a genetic quality. When a purine-free diet is religiously followed the person can indulge in some foods that must be eaten in strict moderation such as asparagus, kidney and lima beans, mushrooms, peas, spinach, cauliflower, whole-grain breads and cereals, white chicken, duck and turkey.

Seek treatment early for signs of gout in foot, and reverse this condition early.
