a point of despair that i can't seem to overcome.

I am the author of my own failures. I like to blame everyone but myself. But, I'm the one who's at fault. Me. I always fail at work, relationships, day to day decisions ... To include each and every major decision I've had to make throughout the course of my life. As a result, my career is at a dead end. I don't have a college degree because I have not done anything since I got myself into to student loan debt that is now crippling me. I'm also a horrible failure at relationships. Every woman I've ever fallen for has left me. Every last one of them. This has all caused me to reach a point of despair that i can't seem to overcome. The things in life that I need in order to be happy in life aren't possible for me. I feel like I'm drowning and there's no such thing as a life saver...

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and I understand your concern.

Overwhelming sense of guilt and self blame is a key symptom of depression.
Remember nobody can always be wrong, and there are certain situations that are out of our control and we are not to be blamed for things that can not be avoided. Giving out best is more than what should be enough and there is nothing wrong in protecting our self interests our cutting of people who bring negativity for our life.

Kindly get an appointment with your physician and get psychiatrist help as depression needs professional care.
I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
Take care
