A cyst, the approximate size of a golf ball found.

User Profile
A cyst, the approximate size of a golf ball, was found on my right kidney during an MRI on my lower back. Nausea and pain have been pretty constant. Should I be overly concerned since there are multiple cancers prevalent in my family?

hi there

there is nothing to worry
mostly the cysts in kidney are not cancers and if mri hasn't revealed any spreading or invasion then its most likely a benign thing
but i would like to know if you have a history of polycystic kidney disease in the family?

i would like to run some tests
renal function tests
urinalysis
full blood count
ultrasound abdomen pelvis

consult a nephrologist for proper management.
thanks for asking
regards
