COPENHAGEN, Denmark — A fire raced through a 73-year-old sports arena in the Danish capital Wednesday, destroying the iconic building just hours before a sex fair was to open, officials said.

The roughing that took place Thursday at the Civic Arena had nothing to do with hockey. It was an assault on the Igloo itself, as equipment pummeled sections of the building, ripping seats from their moorings and pulverizing concrete supports.
