Since I can no longer afford to buy Zyprexa, How do I withdraw from it? I have cut the 5 mg tablets in half for a week but every time I try to skip one, I get heart palpitations, pains in my joints and diarrhea. I thought that these were non addicting. Please help.

Withdrawal
I am sorry Mommagoose that you need to wean off your Zyprexa.

Firstly you should go to your doctor and tell him/her what you are doing.

Have you tried othe methods of getting your Zyprexa? ie you doctor may have samples. I have heard of other methods which may help you with your prescripions. You should ask your doctor.

If it is that you still need to wean off Zyprexa, then I suggest you go to your doctor and ask him how to go about it.

Unfortunatly you have not said how many milligrams that you take and how many times a day you take them.

I have read of others having the same problem as yourself.

I am NOT a doctor or a medical professional. I have also had the same problem and found I needed to cut my tablets into quarters, not that easy to do.

Good luck,

JennyRobin

zyprexa withdrawl
I was subscribed 5mg once a day. I have taken 1/2 a tablet for 9 days so I am on 2 1/2 mg now. I am going to try to cut the pills in half then quarters. I have a pill cutter . I currently do not have a pych. Mine moved a way with no notice so my family doctor has stepped in to prescribe for me. He is not thrilled at helping me with this so I am on my own. I only have 30 pills left and cannot afford any more.

How about going back to your family doctor again? Never know he might have been having a bad day, when you last saw him and be more receptive now.

Can your find another psych? ie can your family doctor refer you to one?

Or would you get assistance at the local hospital?

You may also need other treatment, ie what was the Zyprexa prescribed for?

The best thing is for you to see a doctor, as I most certainly cannot encourage you to go off Zyrexa nor can I advise other than suggest that you seek medical assistanace.

It is up to you.
