Zyban was my hero

User Profile
I quit smoking in 2001 using Zyban. (Took 2 tries on it, but it worked the second time.) I don't know if it is still on the market, but it's worth a shot.

I will NEVER use Zyban again, and in fact still have half box from my last prescription. I must say it helps initially. my side effects varied the first time i tried it in 2006. (it did not work for me then). I suffered from insomnia, paranoia, all food tasted like plastic, mania, depression...

Again in 2010 I tried, it made me high as a kite, some days I would be unable to hold a conversation. This time I quit for three months, but I give that to will power more than Zyban as I had to stop.

End last year i tried it for the last time. I quit after two days after I suffered an hallucination that there was a dog in my car. almost drove into oncoming traffic.

Im on champix now for 11 days. I feel great, haven't smoked for 5 of those days and only suffer slight nausea. Ive read up n these crazy side effects it seems to be giving others... am weary yes, but it seems to be working for me... Smile

Apart from a little nausea half an hour or so after taking it (which passes quickly), I've had no side effects at all. I had been smoking for almost 40 years but with the help of Chanpix as it's known in the UK, haven't smoked for 7 weeks. I can honestly say, that compared to going 'cold turkey' (I've tried this too!) it's a breeze! I've never been tempted to smoke at all and the cravings have been negligible. Better still, I just know that I will never smoke a cigarette again!
