Q: Zoloft cause premature ejaculation ?

I have a bit of a weird story/situation and I drastically need a possible medical explanation. I'm 26 years old and have not had sex since I was 20!! Heres my situation. I became sexually active when I was 16 (junior yr of HS) with my first girlfriend. We both had really healthy sex drives and for the first year of dating on and off, everything we did was strictly oral sex and there were never ANY problems. We began having sexual intercourse my senior year and still everything was great and NEVER had a problem lasting as long as I wanted to. I was placed on zoloft towards the end of my senior year and noticed that it affected my libido, but still had really good sexual relations, the only difference was that it took me much longer to reach orgasm and the only problem that caused was my g/f complaining of a sore mouth haha. I stopped taking the zoloft cold turkey when I was 19 and noticed some withdrawal symptoms but I also noticed the SAME weekend I stopped taking it, that when I had sex I experienced SEVERE PE. I noticed my g/f wasn't very happy about it. For the next couple of weeks every time we would have sex I would continue to have severe PE (ejaculating within seconds) to the point my g/f would actually get mad at me. Her and I eventually broke up (not because of the PE), but after experiencing that extreme embarrassment I became very distant when it came to sexual relations. I have hooked up a few times with various girls, but would only accept oral sex and would turn down intercourse. Its gotten to the point now where my friends are wondering if im gay!!! It has had detrimental affects on my self image and confidence and I would not wish this on anyone. I've tried doing research and cant seem to find any definite answer, but Im glad I found this forum because I know Im not alone. I was wondering if stopping the zoloft cold turkey could have had some direct effect on the brains neurochemistry??? I work in pharmaceutical research and have had conversations with some of my bosses (who have PhD's in pharmacology) and they have told me about the effects of SSRI's on the brains chemistry, but have never told them about my problem. I'm wondering if I should talk to a psychiatrist about this and possibly going back on an SSRI to see if that might correct the problem... I just really need to get this resolved and can no longer sit back and just let one of the things I REALLY enjoyed in life to pass me by. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated by anyone. Thanks a lot!

word..
it such a relief reading your post- i think i'm having exactly the same problem. i was on zoloft for a pretty short time but i decided to stop cold turkey as well. since then, i've had crazy sever pe. literally, within seconds and i can't control it at all. i've never had this sort of problem before. i went to the doctor recently and asked if it might be zoloft withdrawal- it's only been a little over a week since i stopped taking it and the doctor told me there's usually a two-week after-effect period with SSRIs. anyway, it's not just you.

My doctor prescribed Zoloft and Clomipramine for my PE problem. How long did you last when you were taking the Zoloft? How long does it take to notice a difference. I have been taking it for a week now.

Yes SSRI anti-depressants can cause Premature Ejaculation in some men upon discontinuation of an SSRI drug and is part of PSSD (In some men the PE goes away after a few weeks or a few months but for some it doesn't).

Thank God it's not just me. I've been on and off Zoloft a few times over the years. I'm currently off, but my PE is unreal. I'm like a SNL skit or something. I'm praying that in time I can at least go back to a few minutes. Like I said, I've quit before, but this time is the worst the PE has been. When I'm on Zoloft I can last between 5-10 minutes without even worrying about it. I'd like to have a little self-respect back in the bedroom, but I don't want to go back on Zoloft just to get it.
