My son is 10 years old and receives IGG treatments monthly due to a low platelet count. He has been having nosebleeds for quite a while, and the doctors keep saying it is seasonal. Lately, he has has more of them and they are much worse. Huge clots are coming out. He has them in his sleep. There is no pattern to the bleeds. His nose just starts gushing in midsentence. I want to know what tests to ask the doctor to perform to eliminate the bigs things (leukemia, anemia, etc...). What do I need to ask them to because right now they are doing nothing?

Hello, and thanks for your medical question on E Health Forum.

Some important tests in such a situation include:

1. A complete blood count with differential leucocyte count.

2. A peripheral blood Smear.

3. Serology for infections

4. A bone marrow examination, if not done already.

If any abnormality is seen in any of the above tests, then additional advanced testing can be advised.
