Q: Yeast Infection?

I suspect that I have a yeast infection.
my symptoms apparently also qualify for numerous STDs, but I am not having sex, and my boyfriend and I would be monogamous even if we were...
So, the only thing that I can think of is a yeast infection.
I first had symptoms shortly after my period started this month.
Very itchy. Maybe a little red around my vagina. A very small amount of white, chunkish discharge.
I've heard wearing a wet swimsuit too long can cause yeast infections? Guilty.
Here's the thing though; about four days before I first had symptoms, my boyfriend and I "messed around," for lack of a better term. We haven't had intercourse... but have done just about everything else. So can yeast infections occur from that as well? I would assume that is a possibility.
I've also heard that yeast infections can happen because of pregnancy.
I just finished my period...so there is no way I can be pregnant, right? No...we didn't have intercourse, but I still get paranoid if his penis is anywhere near my vagina.
Alright...I think that is all I have...sorry for the randomness :/ I tend to do that; I worry a lot and it causes me to ramble.
Ok, thanks!
Oh yeah, and my plan so far is to take some sort of nonprescription treatment and L. acidophilus along with it to replenish my healthy bacteria. Good or bad idea?

hello i experienced this just before my period and just used over the counter products. it is a yeast infection and usually antibiotics can start it off and what also helps is always make sure you have cotton panties..don,t worry your not pregnant and it shall clear..a good tip for now is use unscented soap as fragranced products irritate the itch.I used lanacane for mine but read miconazole is good..
hope this helps..

Oook thanks so much! I haven't taken antibiotics in a long time...so I am still puzzled about how this started.
I will definitely try one of those!

its a bacterial fungus and if you have been unwell and body resistance low it causes bad bacteria to multiply and its your bodys way of getting rid of it. usual symptoms are thick cottage cheese type discharge or white discharge thicker than normal that you usually have..another tip is eating youghurt usually helps according to my doctor.
