Q: Yeast Infection?

A couple days ago I noticed that my vagina extremely itched. At first I thought nothing of it until I saw this cottage cheese discharge on the outside and inside. After researching online I am pretty sure all of the signs point to a yeast infection.

So I started trying natural remedies because I'm trying to hold off going to the doctors for various reasons. For example I have tried my best to strictly cut sugar out of my diet except for the bit that is in yogurt. I've been eating A LOT of green vegetables, also on the side I've eaten meat, fish, and garlic. And only lots and lots of water.

So I've noticed that now I only itch during the night for some odd reason. And the discharge has completely left the outside of the vagina but there are still some in the inside. Lately though it seems that its being flushed out? Cause it keeps coming out when I either pee, wipe, or even just randomly. So it's starting to look normal again except I think its still a little red and swollen...

And I'm expecting my period in a few days so I'm hoping that will help flush it out?

Basically I'm just wondering if it seems that the infection is going away or if it has moved on to something more serious?

Continue to drink a lot of water and eat yogurt. Also, you can buy Monistat at Wal-Mart which is great for a yeast infection. If none of these things help, you may need to seek medical attention. If it is an infection, the only thing that will clear if up is medication - try the Monistat!

Boric Acid is my natural remedy of choice. Pick up some empty vegan 200-600 mg capsules (make sure it's vegan because you don't need any more sugar feeding the yeast) and fill them with the boric acid, and insert 2-3 times a day. I promise, your infection will be gone in no time.

Well I took Monistat and it went away...

But about a month later I got it again, so I took Monistat again, it went away...

Now I have a it again, and I have no clue why it's coming back.

I'm wondering if I should try Monistat again... I mean it works temporarily, but it comes back about a month later.

sigh.
Well I ended up getting a yeast infection a WEEK after it cleared up from Monistat. So I finally took a trip to a clinic, which they correctly diagnosed me with a yeast infection.

They gave me Terazol 7, and Doxycycline.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong but, I researched a little about the Doxycyline and all I've read were people complaining that this antibiotic CAUSES yeast infections...

I'm a bit confused... why would they give me something that would make it worse?

Should I take it anyway and see what happens?

I'm a bit desperate now that I've gotten 4 yeast infections within 3 months.

Yeah...I dont understand why they would give you that, I believe that all antibiotics cause yeast infections, but I could be wrong.

Ah, ok, so I looked over the papers more thoroughly and it says I have also been diagnosed with Cervicitis, which is cause I guess by the yeast infection...

So they're treating that with the Doxycycline.

But I wonder if taking that will prevent the Terazol from working?

I guess the only way to find out is trying...

It IS possible to have a yeast infection with only one simple symptom but left untreated could get worse and you may end up with a full blown infection.
You could do some home remedies.
But I suggest just going to your local drug store and picking up a 2 or 3 days pack of vaginal medication for yeast infections.
It is also common for womens "normal" discharge to have a slight smell and change from clearish to a slightly thicker discharge depending where they are at within there monthly cycle.
If you DO choose to go ahead with Yeast Infection treatment, if after a week of the treatment you are still worried I would visit a doctor, or local womens health clinic (like Planned Parenthood, where you can get assistance with costs). They can test you for a yeast infection plus STD's.
Remember that STD's are often confused with yeast infections, so don't rule that out as a possibility unless you have never had any type of sexual contact.
