Q: Yeast Infection symptoms in a men?

My girlfriend was originally thought to have HSV-1 after severe burning in her Vag. This was only decided after she'd tested positive for it on a bloodtest. Unfortunately (or fortunately), if you've EVER had coldsores in the mouth, especially recently, you'll test positive for the HSV-1 antibodies.

This being said, we were both sickened over it.

I myself had only 2 symptoms, but it seemed obvious enough that it could be HSV. One was an itch or two a couple times a day and little round small random spots of dry skin that appeared to have a shinnier color underneath. The 2nd was a round/ovalish spot on the head of my penis that looked like very dry or dead skin. When I scratched the dead skin off it flaked, and underneath was raw wet skin that was painful like under a blister. It seemed to take longer than normal to heal, although it never developed any kind of crust or scabbing like HSV is said to have.

She was put on Valtrex to see if her burning would clear. After 7 or 8 days of Valtrex treatment her burning had only gotten worse. They decided to call her back in, and said that if it were HSV it would've started to improve by then. They then decided she had another yeast infection.

My question to you all, and the Doctor is what are the symptoms of a Yeast infection in men? Does this itch, the dry round patches, and the one that became raw underneath fit the symptoms in men?

Any help is appreciated.

Genital yeast infections are fare more common in women than men. Because yeasts are normally present inside the vagina, yeast infection is not considered as a sexually transmitted disease.
Males' genital yeast infections are more common for men whose female sexual partners have chronic vaginal yeast infection.
Yeast infection on the penis (balano-postitis) is manifested with redness, itching, peeling, painful sex etc.

We both have been diagnosed with HPV about 6months ago. She only had one wart to date and Aldara cleared it. I've had them off and on but never ON the penis itself. Is it possible these spots I've seen are HPV? They look like very flat slightly wrinkly empty blisters that never break open nor do they hurt. It's actually hard to see them unless you're looking. They sometimes have dried and flaked off. My dermatologist said it didnt look like herpes to him, and at the time chalked it up to irritation and gave a cream for it. The cream has done nothing to change these few spots. I'm wondering if the HPV looks slightly different because of the skin its on...all other outbreaks were on the pubic area.

How did you prove that you and your girlfriend have Human papiloma virus (HPV)? In your first post you mentioned only Herpes simplex virus (HSV).

6months ago it was diagnosed by my dermatologist. I had a few random outbreaks in the pubic area. It has slowly decreased in frequency, and this would be the first of it ON the penis. She only had one on her labia, and the Aldara wiped it out with much of the rest of her skin. After it healed she didnt see anymore (her immune system is stronger than mine usually).

If your dermatologist really believe that you have genital warts you can try Aldara too.

I used Aldara myself on the ones in the pubic area with no results. They even had me double up on it when it didnt work. I just wondered if since this is a more sensitive skin than the first area, if maybe it'd work on the penis.

Another note: I went in yesterday and they used a solution that makes warts appear. It burned my skin badly and bumps popped up EVERYWHERE, and he said some of them were warts and the rest was some sort of irritation...although by today they're all gone. I had gone in so he could check the two spots that I'd treated to make sure they were in fact warts and not herpes but he said he couldnt check since they were already open.

You shouldn't try any medicine without doctor's prescription.
Now you should wait until those spots get heal. Surgical removal and patho-histological examination is the final option that will provide precise diagnosis and therapy.

In that case you only need to be little more patient while waiting for the effects.
Why did those two spots become open?
