okay about a year ago i received oral sex for the first time. I didnt have any other type of sex that night.
about 2 days later,my vaginal area felt itchy and it was red.This really scared me because i thought it could be a STD. i didnt worry too much yet cuz i thought it might go away...plus,i was with my boyfriend for about 2 yrs at that time and i trusted him because he said that he hadnt did anything like that with another girl ever.but then it itched worse and then i thought that there were very small bumps on it. i was rly scared. i didnt want to go to my mom cuz i was scared of what she might say.So i kept quiet for a while.then it went away and i was relieved.Then my friend told me about some sypmtoms she had and she went to the doctor and it was herpes.I got scared because her sypmtoms sounded like mine.It would go away and come back every now and then and it would be really bad if i was really really stressed.i didnt think a yeast infection would do that...but then i thought it was maybe a mind thing,and i was tricking myself into thinking i had herpes.but anyways a few weeks ago i finally confessed to my mom because i have a new boyfriend and i couldnt live with myself if i had an STD and i passed it to him,so i had to know.So i went to the doctor for a std check.i told her that i had only received oral sex..which was tru and i told her my symptoms and she checked right then and there and told me that i was fine and it was just a yeast infection.She gave me a prescription for it that i have to get.but she told me she was gonna still send the blood in to test. she said if i had anything she's call me and if i didnt they probably wouldnt call..and i havent gotten a call...but idk.and she said it was for gonariia[however you spell that] chlamidia and something else...but not herpes.but i didnt understand why not? you can get it from oral sex.So im scared that even though she says its a yeast infection i think its something else and im scared that she wont test for herpes and i'll never know.i need some advice!

You can request a specific test for herpes by giving a blood sample. Accurate herpes blood tests detect IgG antibodies. For the most accurate test result, it is recommended to wait 12 - 16 weeks from the last possible date of exposure before getting an accurate, type-specific blood test in order to allow enough time for antibodies to reach detectable levels. Types of blood-based herpes tests include:

* biokitHSV-2 Rapid Test
* HerpeSelect® HSV-1 and HSV-2 tests
* Herpes Western blot
* CAPTIAâ„¢ HSV IgG Type-Specific ELISAs
