I was diagnosed with low thyroid when I was 18 years old. I am now 20 and still fighting chronic upper respiratory infections, with chronic yeast infections, UTI's, and seborrhoeic dermatitis on my face. I was finally referred to an immunologist and he said that the only thing that showed up on my lab work was 7 antibodies low to pneumococcal pneumoniae. I got the pneumovax vaccine last week, and he said he would retest in a month to see if my antibody levels go up. However, this doesn't seem to explain my recurrent yeast infections, UTI's and seborrhoeic dermatitis. All of these symptoms seem to become worse with time. I am getting an IVP done to check out my kidneys and urinary tract in a couple of weeks from another doctor. Is it possible that my immunologist missed a test? Is it possible that I have an immune disorder or deficiency that has something to do with yeast. The yeast growth on my face from the dermatitis seems to only get worse, and steroid creams aren't working anymore. Any insight or knowledge is appreciated! Thanks!

The cause of seborrhoeic dermatitis (SD) remains unknown, although many factors have been implicated: yeast infection (Malassezia furfur), as well as genetic, environmental, hormonal, and immune-system factors. Steroid creams without antimycotic drug may not help for treating SD. Do you have yeast infections on some other places (mouth, gentals...) beside skin?
Chronic upper respiratory infections usually include chronic rhinitis, sinusitis, tonsilitis or pharyngitis. These chronic conditions can be due to allergy, chronic irritation by envirenmental factors, improperly treated bacterial infections or deviated nasal septum. Have you ever seen ENT-specialist and done X-ray of the sinuses?
Recurrent urinary tract infections (UTI) can be due to immune deficit of any kind (diabetic, HIV/AIDS...). Recurrent UTI can be also due to improper treatment of acute UTI, kidney stones, structural anomalies etc. Which bacteria have been isolated from the urine? Have you ever made cystoscopy and ultrasound scan?

yeast immune problems
My immunologist also happens to be my ENT. I am getting sinus surgery in 3 weeks. I have a deviated septum on one side, and a genetic deformity on the other. He did say after the Pneumovax and the sinus surgery I wouldn't have to worry about the chronic upper respiratory infections. I was tested for diabetes, and I don't have it. I am getting an IVP done for the UTI's. I get recurrent yeast infections on the genital area, but I read that the seborrhoeic dermatitis is a yeast growth. Should I have received a Candida Immune Complexes test? I used to never get recurrent UTI's, yeast infections or dermatitis like this, it all started 2 years ago... it's very strange. Should I ask my doctor to run a candida immune complex test?

I agree with the ENT-specialist that surgical correction of the deviated nasal septum can solve the chronic upper respiratory infections.
Intra venous pyelography (IVP) serves to estimate how much kidneys are damaged due to the recurrent UTI.
Seborrhoec dermatitis includes yeast infection but not Candida. From the other hand genital yeast infections are usually caused by Candida. Vaginal Candida infections are due to local immunity decrease inside the vagina. Candida's sensibility to certain antimycotic medicines should be checked in case of chronic vaginal candidiasis. Candida Immune Complexes test is performed when we assume on Candida intestinal overgrowth. I don't believe that you have Candida overgrowth but you may do that test if you insist.

Sounds like a yeast infection... you can use something over the counter or you can go to a doctor and they can give you a cream or a pill to take care of it.
