Hello, about 5 years ago I had hernia surgery done which involved mesh. I'm not sure about all of the details I was fifteen at the time. I have had pain since and lately it has been extremely intense. I am very sore around the incision point which is located on my lower left groin. The pain runs from my middle left thigh up to my middle left stomach area. It is very tight and getting tighter. I am physically active but do not lift waits. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Unfortunately, chronic pain occurs in about 3 to 5 percent of patients following inguinal hernia repair.

Patients experiencing chronic pain following hernia surgery must first be evaluated by a surgeon to rule out a recurrent hernia. If no recurrence is identified, then treatment of chronic pain can include restrictions on physical activity, oral anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen), injection of steroid and local anesthetic medications into the hernia repair scar, and (rarely) repeat surgery to surgically remove any sensory nerves that might have become entrapped within the mesh or scar.
