hmm..
140/85 is considered stage 1 hypertension.. but if you are pregnant.. could be cause be the retention of fluid u may be having.. (gestational hypertension) there are risks to having high bloodpressure.. such as preeclampsia.. u need to make sure u r getting enough calcium, magnesium and less stress.. and yes u should see a doctor and make him/her award of your BP.. it needs to be undercontrol

Those machines aren't necessarily accurate due to cuff size and settings. Have your BP checked again by a nurse or doctor.

it's all relative
I wouldn't get too stressed out over a 140 BP reading. If I ever get my blood pressure down to 140 I'll do a happy dance!

my blood pressure always had been normal. now i have high blood pressure and i take lipitor. i think it was due to stress and gaining so much weight.
if it stays high than your doctor may put you on meds. try to researching holistic / herbal remedies for high blood pressure.
if you loose weight you have a chance that it will go away.

Although primary hypertension is not unusual in someone your age, secondary causes should also be ruled out. Have you had your renal functions, serum aldosterone and plasma renin levels checked? Does hypertension run in your family?

ServiceU,

It is not at all unusual to have hypertension and hyperlipidema at the same time. In fact, there is a single medication currently being marketed to treat both for folks like yourself that may have difficulties with their medications.

Good luck.

Taking lipitor and mycardis are associated with series of side effects. Cholesterol lowering drugs like lipitor are notorious for depleting your CoQ10 level and sapping your energy reserves because coQ10 is required to manufacture ATP in energy plants (of the body) called mitochondria.

The best way to go is natural. It seems that you are describing a case of labile hypertension whereby the blood pressure is normal today and raised tomorrow regardless of daily fluctuations due to activity or stress. I don't waste time to start non-drug treatment because hypertension is a sign not a disease diagnosis per say. Remember is one of the vital signs of the telling you that something is wrong with your body. (other vital signs are temperature, pulse and respiration). Since you are post natal, it appears you are magnesium deficient as do most women during or after child birth. I do four things: do cleansing of the liver, take natural calm, supplement with blood pressure factor by Michael's. and most importantly watch your diet because nobody lives on pills. I have never seen anybody that eats fruits and non-sugary vegetables that have hypertension. The chinese believe that hypertension is due to yang imblance. In other words, it is due to eating too much cooked food because yang energy comes from bioenergetics of cooked food.
Note: Western approach and most blood pressure medication ranging from water pills to calcium entry blockers work to alter natural mechanisms which is dangerous for two reasons: 1. It does not address the root cause of hypertension which is atherosclerotic plaques (peripheral vascular resistance) and renal sluggishness. 2. hypertension is a nutritional and lifestyle disease and must be tackled as such.
