Hello, I am a worried mom and don't know what to do. About 3 weeks ago, my son complained that he didn't feel well. He is 6. He said his tummy felt crampy. This went on for a couple of days, then I took him to the Dr. Since he has been on Prevacid before, the Dr. said to try it again. He has never been diagnosed with a stomach condition, but has had a sensitive stomach. Well that didn't do anything, then in a couple of days a low fever set in. The Dr. sent him for bloodwork and it has all come back negative except we're still waiting for epstein barr test. He had x-rays which were fine, and urine tests which were fine. The doctor said based on what he has seen in other children and after consulting with another doctor, they said he has swine flu. We decided to get the test to make sure, and it has not returned yet. He has had 2 rapid flu tests which were both negative. Also, appendicitis has been ruled out. About 5 days ago, he developed some respiratory stuff, so the Dr. said he probably got a secondary infection. He is now been taking Augmentin for 4 days. He had some nausea before, but since taking the Augmentin, it has gotten worse. Although he has improved with the Augmentin with the other symptoms. He mostly has a normal temp now, but still is battling with a low grade fever off and on. He hasn't been in school for 12 days. I know if we can't get rid of the nausea, he will not go. I just don't know what to do anymore. He was fine, happy, healthy and then all of a sudden got hit with this awful thing. Why is it taking him so long to get better? Should I consider homeschooling him for awhile. Could it be the wrong diagnosis. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.
