Both Yasmin and Microgynon are low-dose monophasic birth control pills. Both drugs contain the same estrogen component (ethinylestradiol) in a same dosage (0.03 mg). The progesterone component is different in both drugs – Yasmin contains 3.0 mg drospirenone and Microgynon contains 0.15 mg levonorgestrel.


Yasmin contains 28 pills in the pack and the last 7 pills are inactive so you shouldn’t pause taking the pills between the 2 packs.


Microgynon contains 21 pills in the pack. There are no inactive pills in the pack so you should pause for 7 days between the 2 packs.


Both pill-types should act the same without any difference.

i am confused to choose between two.b'cos i m worried ab weight gain ..i don't want to put on weight, so which one is better in that case?

Been on Yasmin for 6 years. My skin has improved significantly - I used to get occasional break outs but not anymore. It is a good pill. In Canada, we can get 21 or 28 days. I take 21.
