Q: Yasmin side effects?

I was prescribed Yasmin a couple months ago, but was hesitant to start it after I did a Google search and read about many terrible Yasmin experiences. I finally started taking it today, but I'm having second thoughts again...especially because I'm naturally prone to anxiety, headaches, and heart palpitations, I'm afraid this pill will worsen those conditions. Would you recommend that I stay off of birth control pills because of this? Or recommend a different pill than Yasmin? I've read that there should be some correlation between pill dosage and weight...I weigh about 107 and I think there are lower dose pills than Yasmin. Maybe the only way I'll know whether or not it works for me it is to try it for awhile...

Any advice or suggestions are appreciated!

If you look up any type of birth control you are likely to find reviews like this. What you have to remember is that normally people only bother to go and review something if they have a terrible experience with it. For example, say you went to Burger King and got your meal and it was good. How likely are you to go online and write a review about it? Not very. Now, say they burnt your burger, you found a fingernail in your fries, and your soda was stale. How likely would you be to go online and complain? Much more likely.

Birth control does have some negative side effects for some people, but the majority of people are able to handle birth control without many negative side effects. If there are any, most people grow out of the side effects and stop feeling them a few months into the pill once their body gets used to the hormones.

I would give it a chance and try the pill. If after time you feel bad symptoms and you don't think you can handle it, talk to your doctor. She can help you figure out the method of birth control that is best for you and recommend some non-hormonal types if need be (for example, an IUD or cervical caps).

Good luck!
