Q: Yasmin and iron supplements ?

I have been taking Yasmin for over 2 years now and within the past year have experienced symptoms of low iron. I have been vegetarian for 3 years now, and upon going to a doctor 5 months ago and reviewing blood tests, he suggested I take iron supplements to offset weakness and strange leg restlessness. I was taking this for awhile and have stopped because I am unsure whether Iron (Fe) will affect or interact with my BCP which is Yasmin. Additionally, does Vitamin C supplements interact with Yasmin negatively either?

I just do not want to nullify the BCP because I take it for that reason!

Any advice will help, Thanks!

Birth Control and supplements together
Found this awesome response on YA! and hope it helps Smile

Your best (and safest) bet would be to ask a pharmacist if there are any interactions listed between the drugs and supplements you're taking. Doctors and pharmacists both have access to a database of drug and supplement interactions and they can tell you quickly if you can safely take them together or not... anyone here will just have a best guess from searching on the internet (which isn't always accurate, as we all know) Wink
That being said, I don't see any reason there would be a problem... there is Iron in many meats and leafy green veggies, which aren't restricted against with the pill.
