Q: Xanax withdrawal ?

Can SOmeone really become dumb..after having a hard time concentration..and difficulty thinking,and fear of forgeting thing like words and how use things and even my parents face...and i feel like something stuck in my head and that its not circulating...and get lots of sharp pain and pressure feeling..im realllllllly scareddddd....PLease anyone help me..been taking xanax for 3 yrs since 2006 and stopped for 5 month now without the docter permission...and i think im having withdrawn symptom but the docter like no your not....and so his like you just have anxiety disorder and so he gave buspar and been taking that since late october until 1 week of november 2009..i just feel really dumb....someone give advice or courage anything to calm me down and also dont make up something..sorry im just really worried and scared..and i feel like no one care about me..and no i dont feel like hitting anyone or hurting myself..dont worry about that...just dont want to become dumb.. =(

why did you get off your medication? it sounds like you should take your medication, if you had side effects you can try something else that isnt habit forming.

Well at frist i thought that i didnt need it anymore..then 5 month later i started to take it agian for 1 week..and all of sudden after i take the xanax..i started to get all this symptoms...mainly right now i hard time thinking and concentrating...i feel like im getting dumb..cause everything slow like reading and catching on to things...and if i try other medication i think i will get worse and if i dont take anything i will get worse to..more panic attacks..i just dont like this slow feeling and dumb feeling... =( does that make since im sorry that its really bad grammer...im also afriad that im forgetting things...what should i do... =(

side effects or withdrawl systoms include

Psychological symptoms: anxiety** (including panic attacks), depression**, insomnia*, derealization/depersonalization* (feelings of unreality/detachment from self), abnormal sensitivity sensory stimuli* (such as loud noise or bright light), obsessive negative thoughts*, (particularly of a violent and/or sexual nature) rapid mood changes* (including especially outbursts of anger or rage), phobias* (especially agoraphobia and fear of insanity), dysphoria* (loss of capacity to enjoy life; possibility a combination of depression, anxiety, and derealization/depersonalization), impairment of cognitive functioning*, suicidal thoughts*, nightmares, hallucinations, psychosis, pill cravings. Note that it is far more common to fear psychosis than it is to actually experience it. Physical Symptoms: muscle tension/pain**, joint pain*, tinnitus*, headaches*, shaking/tremors*, blurred vision* (and other complications related to the eyes), itchy skin* (including sensations of insects crawling on skin), gastrointestinal discomfort*, electric shock sensations*, paresthesia* (numbness and pins and needles, especially in extremities), fatigue*, weakness in the extremities (particularly the legs)*, feelings of inner vibrations* (especially in the torso), sweating, fluctuations in body temperature, difficulty in swallowing, loss of appetite, "flu like" symptoms, fasciculations (muscle twitching), metallic taste in mouth, nausea, extreme thirst (including dry mouth and increased frequency of urination), sexual dysfunction (or occasional increase in libido), heart palpitations, dizziness, vertigo, breathlessness.

What should i do...i just feel like my brian melting....how long do you think side effect and withdrawn take to recover??Does anyone go dumb from anxiety and side effects??..or either taking a medication even though im have side effect..what should i do...im soooooooo sorry im just nervous break down...losing hope...i have tryed everything..and i dont think i should take anymore meds..but my body telling me need it...

your not going to feel like this forever, give me some time so i can do research about how to over come a habit forming med.

ok well...thank you so much..what should i do until then..i have tired to relax...but for me if im scared of something i concentrate on it and it never goes away...dont know what to do..dont want to become dumb..2month ago i was normal girl that was happy and calm and smart..but this is to new for me...

i have gad and these last few weeks ive felt like im out of it or in a dream i feel scared and im having a hard time concentrating and im haveing a hard time thinking im really scared i dont want to feel like this it is horrible. i feel like ill never be fully better and it scares me the doctors dont know what it is im just scared and want to feel normal again

Same here...you feel like your getting dumb but you r not...im confused to..the docter been giving me wrong meds..what have you done so far??Well someone told me to not to think about the future and the past and just think about the present...Frist write down how you feel and at the same time look up info on anxiety..then go neurologist...and go take mri or a cat scan..then psychotherapist....or you could do old way go exercise and eat healthy and take alot of B vitamins...and also its important to talk to people about your problem it helps..oh and try not taking medication as best as you can..i took the wrong meds for to long..that why im having this problems..but you if cant take it anymore please go see docter..
