Q: Writing seemed to fade

Just today while looking at a wikipedia article (black writing and white background) it looked as if the page was all of the sudden turning white. It seemed like the black writing was dimming into white. This lasted for about a second and a half. I don't recall things getting blurry around the computer screen or even the words themselves. In fact my initial reaction was that it was the computer doing something like the fading of a page in a slide show. I was sitting relatively far from the screen and had to struggle to see the writing (I have no general eye problems that I know of).
Does anybody have an idea of what happened or any leads?
