Q: Wounds that don't heal
asked by: DoctorQuestion on November 27th, 2008
I have a small lesion about 1/4 inch in length on the outer labia, with in the fold. I have put neosporne on it, A&D. I have never had this problem. However, a couple of weeks ago, I was wearing jeans at work and the way I was sitting, I shifted over one direction, and pinched myself in the crotch area. Could I have just injured myself? It has not gotten any worse, but not any better either. I am guessing because it is always moist there and the skin is so soft, it is having a difficult time healing. Could this be?

Thank you, Cha cha

Current medical status: vaginal lesion
Current medical treatment: none

According to the symptoms you described, it seems that you have a minor wound that does not heal. Every wound heals faster if the surrounding area is dry. An infection of the wound can also delay the healing. But an infection would also cause a pus discharge from the wound. If a wound does not heal for more than 45 days, an examination procedure to determine whether the wound is actually a tumor might be needed.
