I am not pregnant yet but I did my first set of clomid last month the doctor added metformin to help but what im worried about is the doctor is giving me norethindrone with these meds which Ive read is a birth control and he wants me to take that every month the same time but this month i started right before i took the med so i was told not to but what worries me is that what happens if i get pregnant but the test dont show it until later and i start to take the med again what it will do to the baby if ill lose it or not idk what to do and i dont know when i should take a pregnancy test. idk what im doing because i dont really know anything about whats going on with my body i have pcos and i dont know what im doing and my doctor doesnt tell me much so please if anyone has any idea please tell me and also if anyone can tell me about how long it may take for me to get pregnant on these meds

Hello,

Welcome to ehealthforum and thanks for writing

In polycystic ovaries the hormone dis-balance is such that there are long intervals in between two periods. The best way to regularize the periods in such a situation is to take oral pills.PCOD affects ovulation and thus causes difficulty in pregnancy.

Clomid along with metformin is the most common prescribed treatment. You have been given correct treatment as it has to be taken for some time duration and then an ovulation study is done to check whether egg is being released so that intercourse can be planned accordingly.Kindly take the treatment as advised and be in follow up with your treating doctor and after few months she might stop these medications depending on the treatment.

Take care!
