Yesterday i woke up at 3:00am with a 102 fever, chills, sore throat (wasn't bothering me that much), achy. I went to the doctor she thought i had strep and did a rapid strep test which came back negative. She thought that it was a false negative and put me on Cephalexin 500mg every 8 hours. As of now i've taken 24 hours worth of the Cephalexin and my throat is only getting worse. 3 years ago i had mono and a similar situation happened where they thought i had strep. I ended up getting a mono rash which looked worse than chicken pox. A year later i also had a confirmed case of mono. Now i'm currently scared that i'm going to get a mono rash and be out of work and school for a month and a half like i was 3 years ago. Can you get a mono rash twice? If so is it as bad as the first time you get it? Are their medications they can give me in case i do get the mono rash to make it go away quicker?
