I had a mirena coil fitted 9 months ago.
I saw my last period in december. I
thought I had conceived in
december/january as I started to
experience symptoms of pregnancy. I am
44. My body took on the shape and size
of an expectant mum and I had a test
carried out. The test was negative.
Yesterday I had a bleed and my abdominal
bulge went down. Could this have been a
phantom pregnancy, or could I have been
pregnant and had a miscarriage? I had
two false results when I was pregnant with
my second baby 17 years ago (confirmed by
scan) but miscarried at 4 months. I
recently went on a return flight day trip
to europe. Last year I bled heavily
after flying to portugal. Am I just at
that age where periods become erratic,
heavy and the body goes through changes
that confuse and bemuse us? Can a woman
get pregnant on the coil? Can travelling
by plane bring on a miscarriage?
