Just like I thought - women do not experience TMJ symptoms more frequently, as it has been reported, and even suggested that it is due to estrogen and/or harmonal fluctuations. This chapter, from a book that I though was very insightful, I believe is worth sharing with you.

Thank you for people that made this available online as it also includes chapterrs on neuropathic pain, and

even

ATIPICAL FACIAL PAIN, which in my opinion should be "banned" from being used in medical literature and instead term somatoform disorder should be used.
Anyways, a quote, which gives me hope:
A number of studies
have identified too limited use of adjunctive pain management
medications and inadequate dosing of analgesics
owing to concerns of possible drug addiction.
However, in studies assessing the use of opioids by
patients with cancer, addiction has not been substantiated
as a serious problem. The greater concern is inadequate
management of pain that is easily controlled if
appropriate treatment schedules are followed. Effective
pain management is possible for most patients and
greatly improves their quality of life.
God Bless
