Although many health conditions (eg, chronic infections, certain malignancies, and menopause) have been listed as causes of
night sweats , few if any of these claims of causation have actually been proven.
Some possible causes for night sweats include:
* Any illness that causes a fever and chills
* Medications and prescription drug
* Drugs or alcohol
* Spicy foods
* Anxiety or anti-anxiety medications
* Menopause (not in your case!)
* Andropause (male menopause)
* Hormone disorders
* Sleep Apnea - (you stop breathing during sleep)
* Gastrointestinal reflux disease (GERD)
* Infectious diseases, such as HIV, AIDS, and tuberculosis
* Bacterial infections
* Cancer
* Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
* Diabetes Insipidus
* Neurological conditions
If you're still worried after a few days, I suggest that you inform your GP of the night sweats. Otherwise, it just may have been a one-time thing...
