Hi!
I have a question.
Does pre-seminal fluid contain sperm? The matter is that I practice withdrawal method. My BF is well experienced and has good self-control. Can this method be reliable for us? We never start having sex right after first ejaculation.
Thanks!

It does contain sperm and can get you pregnant. This is a very unreliable form of birth control. You should use an alternate form of birth control.

If you really want to avoid pregnancy, you BOTH should be using your own form of contraceptives. Him: condoms with spermicide, you: any form of BC you're comfortable with.

Sperm wil have a hard time surviving death by spermicide, getting through a condom, having enough energy to swim through a thickend muscous around your cervix and then penetate an egg. as opposed to bursting into you directly and only having the one barrier against it.

I got pregnant using the "pull out" method. I'd say its not too reliable lol.

Thanx
Dear all!
Thanx for your answers. You're right. I'd better take pills.
Unfortunately my BF is totally against using condoms Sad(
He swears he performs "pull out" perfectly. And I know for some couples it works for a long time. It's like playing Russian Roulette.
Maybe it fails if you have sex twice a day? Sperm can be left from the first time...

If you want to use condoms to be safe then your bf should respect that-- its your body! Try using the ultrathin condoms- no change in feeling, but still very effective.

You can never be sure, and the pull out method leaves way too much room for error. Can he say 100% that he'll never make a mistake? And wouldn't it be nice to not worry about pulling out because you're already protected?

There's also spermicides.

I would be EXTREMELY weary fo anyone who didn't want to use condoms. If you must have sex without condoms PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get tested, this si something I would implore even married couples to do, my husband and I are faithful to each other but get tested regularly, HIV/AIDS can lie dormant in your body (as can many other STDs and STIs) for up to 10 years. Men can get a yeast infection from a woman, which BC pills tend to cause ad naseaum and it is very very gross and there are some things that men have that don't effect them at all but could possibly sterilize a woman. Condom use is not just about preventing unwanted pregnancies its about preventing unwanted STDs and STIs from entering or breeding in your body.

If you and your partner are not wanting to use condoms (which I only recommend if you and your partner are 100% STD & STI free), then I would suggest a form of hormonal birth control. There are plenty of options: the pill, the patch, NuvaRing, even the shot or implant. When used properly, these methods are extremely effective; more than 99% effective against preventing pregnancy.
This sounds pretty good to the 27% or more chance of becoming pregnant while using withdrawal (stats according to Planned Parenthood website).

To be honest, it is actually unknown whether pre-cum contains sperm. There is a much greater chance of pre-cum containing sperm if the man has ejaculated at an early time prior to having sex again, but some studies have shown that most pre-cum actually does NOT contain sperm. Of course, one can never REALLY know. Everything differs from person to person, and whether you want to risk it or not is your personal choice.

I would suggest trying out the pill; if you can remember to take it every day, you are very very well protected against pregnancy. Please consider hormonal protection, or at least condoms.
Best of luck

rockon0159, THNX!
I decided to use the patch.
But for some reasons I have to wait for 1 month(((
Hope it will not be too late)))
I've just read about patch. It seems to be quite simple to use.
