Q: Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Hello, I have a cavity in my wisdom tooth located in the upper left side of my mouth. I just went to the dentist (on a scheduled appointment) to have the cavity filled. While removing the cavity, the dentist told me that the cavity went to the root and is underneath the tooth (if I understood her correctly). She advised that I have it removed. She put in a temporary filling until my appointment with the oral surgeon. Prior to this procedure, I did not experience any discomfort from that tooth. Do I need to have this tooth extracted now or is it something that can wait? Also if I have it removed, generally what kind of pain should I anticipate?

Thanks
GLW

i've had my wisdom teeth removed..generally if the dentist says it needs to be removed then it probably needs to come on out lol...i have my first wisdom tooth taken out years ago, only one at the time and I dont remember it being bad at all..however, 2nd go round was different..I had the last 3 remaining all taken out in the next operation and I didn't go under for it they just used a local anesthetic, I was fine that whole day..i looked like a chimpmunk though haha, but as the day progressed and the pain killer wore off I was in paaaaaaaaiiiinnn..my whole head was throbbing, i had to pop a pain killer...i didn't remember it being so bad when I just had the one removed but for some reason that 2nd operation was just terrible...so just make sure you stay on top of your pain meds
