Will the Doctor change my cast next time she sees me?

I fractured my tibia on october 11,2011 and they put a long leg cast october 13,2011.I have an appointment on dec 6 2011 to get x-rays.I was wondering if the doctor will put a new cast.Since she said I have to have it for four months...and it is getting a little loose Im afraid that it is not supporting my bone as well as it should.

Rebeca,

Yes, your cast should be changed at the next visit. Depending upon how the bone is healing, it may even be possible to go to a patellar tendon bearing (PTB) cast, which would allow your knee to move.

If in the mean time, the cast really becomes too loose around the tibia (not the thigh, that will be loose depending upon your position), or it begins to rub anywhere, you need to contact your surgeon and inform him/her that you are having cast problems.

Good luck. Hope you do well.
