Q: Will I be happier with the one I love, or finishing school.

I am a college student finishing my second year, and was planning on going to vet school. My boyfriend is in his third year, and plans on being a military officer and flying helicopters after he is done with school. I am debating whether to just finish my degree as a prevet, finish and go to vet school, or just complete 1.5 years at a community college as a vet tech so that I can stay with him. He wants to get married, but it would be very difficult to be apart for four years while I would be in vet school.

There's more than 1 vet school. Would this not work for you both?

girl finish school, get your education...marriage can WAIT! you have the rest of your life to get married..if this is the right man he will respect your wishes and wait for you! I made it crystal clear to my boyfriend that I dont want any marriage plans until after I finish my education and get a stable job..we've been dating 3 years now and school is taking MUCH longer than I anticipated but you have to think about your future together you know? You'll get a much higher paying job w/a higher education and it'll be less financial stress on your relationship...like zig said, why would you have to be apart for 4 years can you not go to a vet school near him?

You said he wants to get married but you didn't say the two of you were engaged. If he's serious about making a committment to you I would wait until I had a ring and a wedding date before I turned my life inside out. Also, are you prepared to follow him all over the globe, moving away from friends and family and relocating often to be married to a military man? And if you have kids, give them the same unsettled lives? Are you prepared to do that? (I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that. I just know that not everyone can cope with the constant relocation.)
Just a few things to think about.

you have to follow your heart, make the decision that your not going to regret.
there's always some middle compromise.
