I'm 36 and male, I've had piles for about ten years. I went for a haemorrhoidectomy in NHS hospital, but the doctor did a stapled procedure instead. The piles were just the same post op, except were now aggravated by the staples sticking out of my rectal wall. I first got a polyp on the posterior midline, it became the size of a dried pea on a stalk, then it popped when I was wiping producing clear fluid. Another stalk grew on another pile mass. But then the third growth is more like a nipple, not a stalk, and it's really quite painful. Not like pain and bleeding that comes from split skin or swelling.
I'm due to go in to get the piles banded and excised. But I'm left with questions, like what's causing these growths, I have regular bowel movements, sometimes not at all solid, but not diorhea, I don't eat fatty foods, don't smoke, rarely drink, excercise regularly. How can I get solid stools? I've changed my diet to eating vegetable soup with some protein on top, and increased my fruit intake. Could it be my posture? Why do I have to spend 20 mins on the toilet?
I've got 4 weeks to recover before I return to work, will it be enough after they slice off a big pile?
Why didn't the doctor test the polyp that was present when he used his circular blade 2 years ago?
