All women have a smell. For some it is stronger than for others. It should not be a repulsive smell. That can indicate an infection. The smell does change throughout your cycle as different hormones and discharges come into play in the different menstrual phases.
The smell is normally a musky smell and the taste slightly sour (due to the high pH needed to keep your vagina healthy).
Can it be dry urine causing the salty smell?
It is a good idea to always pat yourself dry when you are wet, wear cotton panties to keep you dry and sleep without panties when it is safe to do so. You can also use a small spray bottle to clean after peeing.
Take care!
