Over the last few months my periods keep gettin later and later. They are usually on time to the day. These past two months they've been four days late. I started my period the 8th of December it ended the 13th. Besides it being delayed like the month before it was normal. Well it stopped, then two days later I get the brown discharge which is normal. The discharge lasted 3 days. At first it was very light but then it got really heavy within a few days until it just turned into blood. It wasnt like a period though. I never had any bloating, cramping, or back pain like I would with a period. It lasted 8 days. My normal periods last 5. It was very heavy. I didn't have intercourse within that time so I know that wouldn't cause it. So what's happened?

Thanks,

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum.
Changes in periods and bleeding pattern can be affected by hormonal changes, lifestyle or eating habit changes, change in activity levels, pregnancy, infection etc.
The best person to answer your query would be your healthcare provider/gynecologist as the exact cause for abnormal bleeding needs to be determined with examination and further tests (blood work, hormonal analysis, ultrasound scan etc).
Take care
