Q: whos baby is it?
asked by: Lee Lee on July 25th, 2008
New User
I think I am getting myself into a bit of a mess. I am 13 weeks pregnant. I had sex with a guy who was not my boyfriend on the 18th April and I then had my period. After that me and my boyfriend got back together and was sleeping with him I then missed my next period and realised that i was pregnant. I had a date scan and they have confirmed it that I am 13 weeks, is there anyway it could be the other guys baby or is in my boyfriends. I am sure it is my boyfriends but just worried that some people do have there periods even when they are pregnant.

Can someone please put my mind at rest? Embarassed

The only way to tell who is the father of your baby is a paternal DNA test after the baby is born. You need to come clean with your boyfriend and tell him there is a possibility that someone else fathered this child.
Don't be like those women on the Maury show.
Be honest.

I'd say it's your boyfriend's baby based on the dates.

Some women do bleed during pregnancy, but it's not normally the same kind of bleeding as a period.. if it is there's usually something wrong.

It isn't that you conceived 13 weeks ago when they say you are 13 weeks pregnant, they go by the age of the egg.

No one can say it is definitely one or the other.

YES, women can bleed during pregnancy, just as a normal period. I have had friends who have and it was just the same as a regular period. One of my friends didn't even know she was pregnant until she was 5 months along.

Wow....I'm sorry that you're going through this stress....But don't freak out, it might be harmful if you worry a lot...I understand what you must be feeling...I think this is one of the worst things that could happen to a girl..Not knowing who the babys father is..and I TOTALLY understand if you don't want to tell your currrent boyfriend, especially if you love him...I don't think I'll have the guts to do it...But I really think its your boyfriends, ANYTHING is possible..so just, wait and don't stress too much...I mean if you and you're b/f care and have love for each other, AND if you weren't with him while you slept with the other...He could turn out to be a great father even if he is or not....Good Luck Sweetie...

Correct me if I'm wrong but...

Are you telling her to hide it from her boyfriend and lie to him?
It is incredibly selfish and WRONG to make someone think they are a father when they aren't.

This screams "trick this guy into raising another man's baby" to me.

Why would you NOT want to be honest with a man you claim to love? Doesn't he deserve to know the truth? That it might not be his child? You're right - he might be an amazing father, whether he's the biological father or not... but he deserves the right to CHOOSE whether to father a child that isn't his. Tricking him is horrible.

Give him the respect of the truth.

I said "it's not NORMALLY the same kind of bleeding as a period", I didn't say it was impossible. It's pretty uncommon to not know you're pregnant for several months. Plus, how do you even know how your friends bled during their pregnancy? Did they show you? Neutral

No she didn't show me, that is sick-why would you even ask that? gross...i think I threw up a little in my mouth...
It is common for best friends to TALK about things, especially when both are mothers. She told me she didn't know because she had a normal period for those 5 months.

I did this on line
ALl the dates match exactly so there is no way it can be the other persons.

Had scan and they gave me my due date as 26th January, and I slept with my boyfriend on the 4/5/6 May - the other person was on the 18th April and I then had a period so I wouldnt have overlated. Thanks for all your kind emails - I wont be sleeping around EVER again.

Your Input

Last period started on Apr-21-2008.
Number of cycle days is 28.

Result

Your next ovulation will most likely occur on Monday, May-05-2008.

Your fertile days are between Friday, May-02-2008 and Wednesday, May-07-2008.

If you get pregnant during this cycle, your due day would be Monday, Jan-26-2009.

Date of conception?
I am a guy and i had unprotected sex with a girl on february 8th. Well she had been seeing another guy and was having sex with him unprotected also. I didnt see her too much though. Anyway she came up pregnant and the ultrasound said she is 25 weeks and 5 days pregnant. What would have been the date of conception?

Early March. Give or take a week.

Since she is 26 weeks pregnant, the doctors actually tack on about 4 weeks. They go by the age of the egg, not the actual conception date. Conception dates are impossible to know exactly because sperm can live for a few days inside her body.

If you last had sex with her the beginning of February, I doubt this child is yours. She would be further along.

I think her due date is like Nov. 9. So you dont think this is my child? She got married to the other guy. I was just wanting to make sure. I have been stressed out bad over the whole situation and my stupidity.

According to an online calculator, she conceived around Feb. 17th. Unless you had sex with her after the 8th, it looks like the child is probably the other man's.

ok i looked up due date to date conceived. If you had sex feb 8th, it would be due Oct 31st. If she is due November 9th. One she could've gave dr wrong date of last period, and with it only being a week. I would be concerned if it was my child or not. Sounds like there is a 50/50 chance that child is yours b/c it is way too close. i would def get a DNA test

Be Honest
I would really like to say that getting the DNA test is the best way to go. I didn't even read everyones post and the reason is because...

I have had a child outside of my relationship. I know the feelings of the stress it can put on you and how your mind goes everywhere while you are trying to count days.

I am not proud of the way things happened in my relationship but it happened and now my child is 6 years old and telling was the best thing in the end. I messed up, but me and my then boyfriend are now married, and my sons father is in his life as well.

Give them a chance to be there. It will be alot of stress. I can't stress it out anymore. But it will work out how ever God wants it to.

The dates of possible conception and the day you cheated on your boyfriend are too close together to determine the likelihood of either being the baby's father. Your best bet is to come out and be honest like an adult (after all, it's time to grow up if you're going to be a mother) and tell your boyfriend there is a possibility. DNA testing can prove either way once the baby is born.
