I’m not 100% sure whether I have been bitten by a spider or not but I have done a little bit of research and from what I have found I believe that I have been bitten by a white tail spider. Three days ago I woke up with a small irritation on the right hand side of my face, at first I thought it was a cold sore but over the past few days it seems to be getting bigger and more swollen. It started at about 2cm long and today it’s around 9cm. It’s really red and has little lumps around it which are painful to touch. I have a constant stinging feeling and feels as if it is throbbing. Do you think it is a spider bite?

Hello and thank you for your post on e health forum.

It is difficult to make a diagnosis online, which insect has bitten you.

But the history suggests that you have a severe cellulitic reaction to the suspected bite.

You might benefit by consulting a doctor for an examination and proper treatment.

In the mean time using Ibuprofen , ice packs can help to control the inflammation and pain.

I hope this helps.
