Q: White blood cells in discharge

Hello everyone,
I've been having symptoms now for about 6 months, and my doctor is at a loss as to what is going on with me.
I have been treated with four different antibiotics (two oral and two vaginal). I have had all the tests done for STDs, bacteria, strep bacteria, yeast, everything. It's all normal.
I had a pap done last august (about 6 months ago) that was normal.
She said it appears that I have LOTS of white blood cells in the discharge.
Here are my symptoms:
- pasty white discharge (was even heavy and yellow last week). Has no odor.
- outer vaginal irritation and itching
- upon self exam, the area above the cervix is swollen and tender to the touch.
- seems like my urinary tract is swollen also
- I feel mildly bloated and crampy

Does this sound typical of cancer? Should I request more testing be done? Should I see another doctor? I feel like she's wasting precious time.

If anyone could please offer me some sort of advice - I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks SO much.

If you do not feel comfortable or confident in the treatment you are getting from your doctor, please go get a second opinion! There is nothing wrong with being your own health advocate.

Thank you for the reply.
I'm going again tomorrow to the doctor's for another exam.
It feels now like the pain (like a dull ache) is localized near the left ovary.
I'm wondering, though... is there anyone here that has heard of an ovarian cyst causing these symptoms? I have had one in the past (when I was 20 - I'm 28 now).

Thank you,
Jen

Im having the same symptoms as yourself. Does it feel as if it a menstrual cramp but in your ovaries? Was your cervix very sensitive that if you bumped it, it would bleed? I've also tried antibiotics to no avail. Im curious as to what the problem was, or if you've found out yet?

Hi Tabbykat, actually, my doctor has finally just discovered moderate cervical dysplasia (sp?). She doesn't think that it has turned to cancer, but I won't be sure until the biopsy results come back.
She said this diagnosis will only apply to the spotting... not all of my other symptoms. I have an appt with a specialist in another month... we'll see what he says. I'll post back.

To answer your questions, yes, it did feel sort of like cramping near my ovaries. It sounds silly, but I discovered the pain was coming from constipation. That's gone now! The colon is right there, and I had confused it with girl parts...
Also, I have spotting after intercourse... GO to the doctors if you have this. It's not normal.

One thing I'm disturbed about... All my paps have always come back normal. My doctor said this has probably been going on for many years... why would all those paps be normal?!

Yeah same here i'm 21 atm. I have been calling my health dept for a week. I finally got angry because no one would pick up the phone. So i faxed a written letter to them. Its not only spotting, it also, when i self examined, because to bleed a watery type blood when I barely hit my cervix. I do NOT have the money to go to the GYN and my health dept is not helping at all. Its very uncomfortable, and worrysome. Its been going on for about a month now, maybe a little longer. I've always had abnormal cramp and bleeding and the gyn always said it was 'normal' for a girl my age to have these problems. Thank you so much for your reply! I hope it all turns out okay!

Vaginal discharge
I've had a vaginal discharge for a few days. Mucus like yellow. No itching or burning just the discharge. I was told by my health care provider that I had a high white blood cell count from my lab results in a vaginal exam. the chlamydia/Ghonorea cultures came back negative.
