After finishing my undergraduate degree, I went shopping for a graduation outfit. What the?!? There was NO way I gained so much weight to increase by three dress sizes! The sad truth? I had. It is all too common that we get so overwhelmed with life that we miss the fact that our eating habits, lack of exercise, and stress level is working against us. I went into panic mode! I didn't care how I lost the weight because I wasn't concerned with the health aspect of losing weight, but the vanity aspect. I didn't want to walk across the stage looking like a good year blimp enrolled at Hogwarts in my graduation gown. I had one month...ONE MONTH to lose 30 pounds! I went back to Weight Watchers because the system had taught me better eating habits and I lost 40 pounds years before and I started exercising at least 3 times a week. I was never a big exerciser, so 3 times a week was a BIG deal. Two weeks into it I had lost some weight, but not enough to make me feel better about myself.
One sleepless night, I went on the search for a solution. My bright idea? An herbal body wrap! I researched through the night and decided on Life Force's Herbal Body Wrap. With all the great reviews and the "45-day Empty Bottle" refund policy, how could I pass it up. I ordered the 4-week Herbal Body Wrap solution and 2 bottles of Body Balance. When I received my package, I watched the video, made up the solution, measured myself, and got to work wrapping. I laid down for an hour, anxious to unwrap and see the results. When the time came, I did so...NOTHING! I went through the motions 9 more times with absolutely no results. I was so upset because I knew I would be walking across the stage a chubby 20-something with a shapeless gown.
I called to make the return and was prompted to put all empty bottles in the box and send it for a return. There was no mention to include the DVD or the used terry cloth towels that came with order. After spending the money to ship the empty bottles back, I waited over a month and a half to receive a refund. When I did receive a refund, I was only credited half of my initial order. When I called to ask why only half of my refund was received, the customer service representative stated that I did not return the DVD or used terry cloths. I explained to her there was no mention of returning those items and that even the website's refund page made no mention of returning the DVD or cloths. In fact, the website stated, if you were unsatisfied send back the empty bottles and you'll receive a full refund. The representative was rude and her supervisor was rude.
All in all, I learned my lesson on trying to take the easy way out when it comes to my overall health. The big slap in the face by Life Force was just what I needed to get myself in gear. Now I:
*Watch what I eat with Weight Watchers
*Dry brush every day, sometimes twice a day
*Oil Pull with Sunflower Oil three times a day
*Exercise for AT LEAST 30 minutes every single day
Now 3 months later, I am consistently losing weight each week, I feel better about myself, my skin is tighter from dry brushing, and I am more active because of exercising.
Let's save all those well-intentioned dieters from the disappointment of herbal body wraps and encourage them to seek the long-term health changes instead of the fad products that will leave them more depressed in the end. Which body wraps have left you disappointed and broke? Did the negative results prompt you to make an overall lifestyle change?
