I'm 18 and am thinking of starting birth control to help control my acne and very painful (and irregular) periods. I also heard that birth control can help control mood, so i thought it might help my anxiety, depression, and panic attacks. My anxiety stems from my deep fear of vomiting, so i can't take a birth control that would make me sick. I'm underweight (5'8", 105 lbs) so i'd be happy with gaining weight, and any pill that would help appetite would be a plus.

to sum it up, i'm looking for a birth control that helps acne, controls mood, alleviates menstrual cramps, increases appetite, and most importantly WILL NOT MAKE ME NAUSEOUS OR VOMIT. thank you all so much, ahead of time!

Mirena is out then. Its a small T shaped device that fits inside the uterus, and releases hormones. It regualates your cycles but for the first couple of months can make then heavier, longer and more painful.

It might be worth looking into the combined pill.

Talk to your OB/GYN, GP or local family planning clinic and discuss the options futher. Your doctor knows you best, your medical history, allergies etc etc therefore can advise you better on which would suit you best.
