I've been having a multitude of symptoms so I'm curious as to how early a home pregnancy test will show positive? after putting my info into a pregnancy calender, conception/fertilization would have been on tuesday--is this too early? My next period isn't for about ten days so if I am pregnant I would have to wait to see if I miss it...I know it's only ten days, but I'd like to know! Smile Any insight would be great.

Pregnancy symptoms are caused by the pregnancy hormone. This hormone is what's detected with urine tests. If your symptoms were caused by pregnancy, a test would be positive. It takes much more of the hormone to cause symptoms than it does to trigger a positive.

Having said that, if your period isn't due for 10 more days, you must have only just ovulated. Your body would not know it was pregnant yet - the egg hasn't even reached your uterus yet.

The first symptom of pregnancy is a missed period. Everything else can be caused by a variety of things. Simply believing you might be pregnant will make you notice every little quake and tremor in your body.

Wait until you miss your period, and then take a test. You could test a few days before that, but if it's negative, you'll wonder if you tested too soon and will probably end up spending more money on tests. It's best to wait until you miss your period so you know for sure you're not testing too early.
