Thanks. Would there be any possible way it could be the 10th? None of the dates match the ultra sound so I'm trying to figure out which date would be more likely and hoping it could be the 10th!

It is unlikely. The sex from either Aug 28 or Sept 1 would have gotten you pregnant.

If you are looking at it yourself, remember that the ultrasound calendar started counting 2 weeks before you ovulated and got pregnant. So at 6 weeks according to the ultrasound, you are only 4 weeks pregnant. It is the difference between gestational age and fetal age.

Lala, According to your scan, you ovulated around Feb 21. According to the LMP method you ovulated around Feb 23. So the average of Feb 22 is very likely as your ovulation date.

Intercourse with the guy on Feb 17 or Feb 22 made you pregnant, if it was the same man?

the scan dated me nov 14 going based on my lmp a 28 day cycle, but i know well my cycle is 30 days... how could the sperm of the 17 still have survived so long though ? i thought it was not likely.

Lala, the scan does not care about your LMP or cycle length at all. It is based on organ development and growth of the fetus. That is why it is the most accurate estimation of gestational age.

I did use a 30 day cycle for the LMP calculation.

Sperm will normally survive for at least 3 days inside you. If the sperm is healthy it can be 5 days and if everything is perfect it can last up to 7 days.. So given that the 17th is just 4 days away from the 21st and 5 from the 22nd, it is quite possible that it survived. The ovulation dates can also be off by a day or two, so you could have ovulated the 20th for example.

From what you are saying I am getting the idea that you had intercourse with two different men on the 17th and the 22nd? If that is the case, it is impossible to use these calculations to determine paternity. You will have to have a DNA test done.

i did an ultrasound on 30th august 2010 an i was 6weeks 4days when did i got pregnant

well the ultrsound gave me a due date of nov 12 but they left it at 14 going by lmp.

and if my cycle is 30 days then i ovulated the 23 thats six days away from the 17 ? thats why im so confused on this, i track my cervical mucus also and it was heavy the 22 late night until the 23 then it was back to sticky dry, also the 17 was the first day i had cm and it was dry sticky. ?

Susan, looking now at the ultra sound there are 2 different dates on it. The LMP or LPM said 7 weeks 1 day. But the baby measured 6wks 1 day w gestation so if I went by how the baby measured then I would have conceived on the 10th....so maybe it was possible? Isn't the ultra sound more accurate than just going by my period and "supposed" ovulation?

rochetbc, The gestational age is by far the most accurate. At 6 weeks 1 day it is out by at most 2 days. That will mean that you ovulated and conceived around 4 weeks 1 day before the scan.

You did not say when the scan took place. So go to a calendar and move your finger up 4 rows (weeks) from the date you had the scan and you will be pointing to your conception date, plus or minus 2 days.

Lala, If you tracked your CM and it was fertile on the 22nd and 23rd, Mr Feb22 must be the most likely father to your baby.

ok so just to get this straight the ultra sound saying at the time 6wks is more accurate than their guess of 7wks going by my period and ovulation right? It's possible to see on the ultra sound accurately that I conceived on the 1st or the 10th right? Or would it be hard to tell? Thank you for your help.

Rochet, Unless you had sex only once or know exactly when you ovulated, the scan is the most accurate method. At six weeks it is accurate to within 2 days. It measures some vital measurements in the baby as well as look at organ development. At 6 weeks this happens by the calendar and very little can affect the growth of the baby in those early weeks. That is why the scan is accurate early on.

After week 6 the scans become less and less accurate until it is only accurate within 7 days by week 18. After week 18 the scan becomes very inaccurate as all sorts of external things start to affect the baby's growth.

Lala, That points to ovulation around Feb 19. At 18 weeks however, it was only accurate to plus or minus 7 days.

how about 17 weeks?
