Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
Most of the hormonal contraceptive pills start giving you effective protection after about 2-3 weeks of regular use. If this is your first pill pack use, then avoid being sexually active without protection during the first 2-3 weeks of getting started on the contraceptive pills, as chances of pregnancy are possible. If this is not your first pill pack use, you can resume sexual life after your have started with your second pill pack. Continue to take the birth control pills at scheduled time daily. Do not miss taking any active pills. If you are worried about pregnancy, always use back-up protection while having intercourse for additional protection from pregnancy. Visit your doctor/gynecologist for further clarification and assistance.
Take care.
