Q: What's the most frutrating thing about dating?

Is it just me, or is everybody sick of being lied to online? What's the point of pretending to be taller or 15 years younger than you are? Yes, you may get more interest in the beginning, but the cat is out of teh bag the minute you show up in person.

For me, this makes me just want to end the date right away. The sad thing is that the fact that someone is shorter or older or whatever isn;t generally an issue for me. It's the fact that I know they've been dishonest right off the bat.

I know a lot of other people who think this is just par for the course -- that online dating has a sort of language you need to translate (X-15 lbs 7.3 years - $44K.)

Anybody else think it would be easier if everybody just owned up to reality?

in my younger years i messed around with hot lines. and people would lie about things. this guy told me he was 6foot and when i saw him we were standing eye to eye and i m 5'4".
i would make a little lie about my weight, guys don't know so i would take 10-15 lbs off. but to lie about something that can be found out is wrong. but usually people aren't serious, and they're just having fun and not thinking about the consequences or hoping that you will except them afterward.

Hun, you are totally preaching to the choir here. I have hung out with guys in person instead of online and let me just say....what?! O.o. lmao XD. Funniest thing that ever happend was this one time I met up with this guy who's Profile picture on facebook depicted him as very built/foot ball player sort of physique and I was like hmmm okay. So he had claimed he put on a few pounds but when I show up there he likes about 10 yrs older than he did in his only picture, about 300lbs almost in weight, has this creepy patch of hair hanging over the cuff of his shirt from his chest and a behind that could bearly fit in the IHOP seat. OH MY GOD, I wanted to run, but thankfully I had brought a friend with me to take the edge off but my God it was the most disturbing situation I have ever been in XD. Theres nothing wrong with meeting people online if you have a sense of humor but sometimes people take funny waaaaaaay to far lol hahahaha xD.

the joy of dating sites
i agree with everything you all have said. im 48 but feel younger and used a date site.
they are funny sometimes but as i found if you are genuinely lonley and looking for love girls you can also be vulnerable to that attention you are seeking.
from the married man who shows no profile picture and already mentioned older than photo.
I had lucky escape with a military guy who after we had e.mailed for over a month and never met wanted me to move in once he came home. my radar signals kicked in and replied to him that it was waaayyyy to soon and we would need to spend time together first.
Anyway turned out he was trying to get custody of his son (how did i find that out)?
well girls he had me and several others on the go and he e.mailed me by mistake and even got my first name wrong so i gladly blocked him.
the guys are just in the same boat as us women and it can happen to them too.
my advice meet, like, ask out and if you like meet again. happy romancing

8 years ago i met this guy on a hot line. i didn't want a b/f b/c i just got out of a relationship. and i did a bad think! i slept with him on the first night. guess what! he stayed with me for 3 1/2 years and he has been the second best b/f i've ever had in my life. he was sweet, sensitive, loving, supportive to no end, and the sex was good.the problem was he didnt want anything serious like marriage & he was honest with me about it in the begining. so i did leave him to find someone that did. but i can call him up anytime if i anted to talk. the first best is the guy i m with now.
