Please note that PCR test (viral load test) are neither approved or recommended for routine HIV testing by ‎people who just want to test more quickly than the four weeks recommended with an antigen/antibody test. A ‎negative viral load test can reduce initial anxiety and worry until an HIV antigen / Antibody test can confirm there ‎is no infection.‎

HIV DUO test, which is also called as a 4th generation HIV test, is a 100% ‎sensitive test, and it tests for ‎both HIV-1/2 antibody and p24 antigens. Its specificity is 99.77% in individuals ‎at low risk for HIV ‎infection. Hence it is the most common test for HIV screening. ‎This test can be done at any time after 4 ‎weeks of exposure, and will give a very accurate and reliable reading to know your HIV status.‎
