what type of bc has the lowest level of hormones and side effects, i'm currently on the merana iud and am still experienceing unwanted side effects. Since my normal cycle is heavy and painful i am afraid to try the copper iud.If I'm too sensitive even to the merema,should i stop taking bc all together and just use condomns? Is there anything out there to prevent pregnancy and treat heavy periods without the side effects of hormones?

The oral contraceptives which are available nowadays contain very low doses of the hormones and they are especially useful in your case as you’re having heavy periods.

They reduce the menstrual losses and the side effects are minimal in view of the very small doses of the estrogen hormones in them.

In fact, they are comonly prescribed for women with heavy menstrual losses even if they don’t need any oral contraceptives.

I believe that you should consult your gynecologist and use the oral contraceptives. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
