What type of doctor is best for asthma caused by alpha 1 Antitrypsin ? I have phenotype SS with asthma diagnosis. Do not qualify for augmentation therapy. Asthma cannot be helped with xolair shots IGE level is normal. Been turned down for allergy shots will not help.I seen dr Hogarth university of Chicago said I didn't need augmentation therapy. I have no pulmonary or allergy doctor. Don't know what to do

Hey there. With asthma you will be best off seeing a pulmonologist. If your insurance requires a referral you can easily get that from your primary care. Be sure to do good research on anyone you plan to see. Ive gone through a ton of horrible docs (not to be discouraging) so you just have to find somebody who fits well with you and is willing to advocate for your health. Best of luck!
