Birth Control - Men Answer A26439
Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
If she has got her usual periods (expected normal periods) after the unprotected intercourse, then chances of pregnancy can be ruled out. If you wanted to opt for emergency contraception, you should have taken it within 24-48 hours of unprotected intercourse to be able to prevent pregnancy effectively. Wait and watch for her next periods (few women can continue to have period like bleeding or decidual bleeding at the expected period time during first few months of pregnancy). Look out for development of any other new symptoms. The chances of pregnancy cannot be ruled out completely if she has had late ovulation. If pregnancy gets ruled out, and if you intend to remain sexually active, you should consider using suitable regular birth control measures. If she is taking birth control pills, she should be regular with its use to continue having protection. Visit her doctor/gynecologist for further evaluation and assistance.
Take care.
