I am 39. Male. Overall good health. A little overweight I admit. Complaints are chest discomfort and being lightheaded and dizzy. I can almost constantly feel something in my chest. Dizzy and lightheaded for over two weeks now. I have had NO pain in my chest, just discomfort. Had a very rapid heartbeat that started this all two weeks ago. My heart was racing for over a minute. Felt like it was going to come out of my chest. I went to the hospital for 8 hours and told all was okay. Told it might be palpitations. Been to a cardiologist and said my heart was fine. Had an EKG and an echocardiogram. Was put on anti-biotics for 10 days as I was told I had a slight sinus infection. Still no help after taking all the anti-biotics. Working still but lightheaded much of the day and very exhausted at times. Sometimes I feel a little shortness of breath. Harder to inhale than exhale. No pain, but discomfort in the chest area near my sternum. I am lost. Doctor has no idea. Lymes came back negative and all blood work was good. Getting frustrated. I did have a double ear infection, throat infection, and sinus infection back in February/March that lasted over a month. Was on two different anti-biotics to get rid of it. Ear infection was the worse of it. Have had a few readings of high-blood pressure, but some were ok as well. One was 160/100 and a few were 130/90. Last week was 125/80. I have been under a lot of stress at work lately with people losing their jobs, which does not help, but I do not think that is the cause. Any ideas would be appreciated. Need to figure this out. Thanks.

Hi exit69S and welcome to ehealth: IMO, these are classic signs of panic attacks...The more you dwell on it the bigger it can get...You can actually work yourself into a bigger place by worrying...What I speak about is if your doctors OK you with other problems not being prevalent..Stress will do this and make it worse...You must program yourself to relax...Tell yourself that you alone are causing this...I hope this helps...Take care...

Thanks for the reply. I am just not sure since I have never experienced this before. I still have chest discomfort and still light-headed. I am not someone to dwell on things and keep telling myself I am going to be 100% tomorrow! I really do not worry about it, but still feel the same. I hope tomorrow changes all!!!

Hello, Still not feeling well. Had a CT Scan. Diagnosed with "thickened distal esophagus", 3 30% non-obstructive blocks, and possile "airway disease". CT also revealed peribronchial thickening, atelectasis, and mild air trapping suggestive of airway disease. I DO NOT SMOKE!!!! Making appts. to see a GERD, Pulmunary, Neurologist, and back to the Cardiologist. See what happens. Still VERY lightheaded and chest discomfort, but the lightheadedness is the worst part. Also some weakness in the legs and upper jaw discomfort. Not sure if this is related. Thanks...

Low grade headache, much lightheadedness, and very fatigued. I am in a bad fog right now. Saw a neurologist and he is sending me for a brain MRI, brain MRI with contrast, ear MRI, and a nuch of brainwave tests. He wants to rule out everything. He thinks it is might be related to a bad ear infection I had back in March or so. I went through 3 rounds of anti-biotics and he said my ears still look bad. No infection but he said this may be causing my current symptons. I hope he is right. All the tests should be done within the next two weeks. Just trying to hand on. Also saw a GERD yesterday and he will perform an endoscopy in early August. I am just wondering how an ear problem could cause such fatigue, lightheadedness, low grade headache, and slight pain in the upper jaw area. Yes, all I am worried about is getting a clean bill of health, no tumors and no cancer. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

Had all tests done and all came back negative. Still in a bad place. Constant low-grade headache, dizzy, fatigued, etc. All bloodwork comes back ok too. ENT says he cannot find anything wrong. I am lost and not sure where to turn next. Any advise?

Hi Exits69S...Stress can be a killer...You can imagine yourself into a happening...Try to relax..They said you are fine so try not to worry...I, too, was having stress...Talked to the doctor about it...I asked her if doing a particular thing caused stress?...She said No...You cause the stress by worry about it...And may I add, she was right...Take care...

I wonder how you made out Exits69S. My husband has been experiencing all the symptoms you first described. He had ekg, echocardiogram and even a heart catherization which showed nothing. Today he went to have his blood drawn before his follow up appointment. They were unable to draw his blood. It was too thick and began to clot immediately (they had to milk it from his fingers). I wonder if you experienced anything like that?

Hi Stacia32, Exit69S,

A bad ear infection can damage the inner ears and it can take up to a year or longer to fully heal. I went thru almost exactly what you guys are experiencing and after many doctor visits was finally referred to an ear eye and nose specialist who told me that was what was going on in my case. He put me on an anti dizziness med and after the meds built up in my system all was well again.

Hope this helps, and I wish you both good health!
