Hello, I am 31 and saving myself for marriage (but I am pretty sure in this day and age of tampons and whatnot also I had an internal ultrasound I probably have no hymen per se) I never had a problem with pelvic exams previously but I had a complete hysterectomy in 2009 due to ovarian and endometrial cancer. I went through chemo and radiation and am fine now but the last 2 or 3 pap smears it really hurts when they put the speculum in. I think they might be touching my bladder when I feel this? I can't explain it but it feels like a ball is in the way (I know that sounds funny but you know what I mean) I am wondering if it is just because I don't have as much natural lubrication as I did pre hysterectomy?

It could just be the speculum size. At the next visit you should tell the doctor at the time you are feeling the discomfort. That will make it easier to identify the cause if discomfort. The Dr can also take a closer look at the bladder in relation to what you are feeling as well.
