Hello, I am new to this forum. I had severe postpartum depression 3 years ago after my baby was born. I had severe insomnia and anxiety also. During my pregnancy I felt great however. When my son was a year and a half I slowly weaned myself off the meds I was taking and I felt ok and better. However 2 months later I decided to take a low dose hormonal birth control Pill - YAZ . Bad Idea. Two weeks after taking it I fell into a deep depression so quickly. I tried so many medications, and it lasted for 4 months until finally I switched to wellbutrin combined with low dose of Celexa and it started working. So I've been on 100mg of wellbutrin a day and a low dose of celexa a day. I still take 50 mg of trazodone at night to help me sleep. Its been a year now and am terrified of going through postpartum depression while i'm pregnant or afterward. Did anyone else take wellbutrin throughout their pregnancy? Has anyone had another baby after going through severe postpartum depression the first time? Let me know any advice, stories or anything in general about their situation. Thanks!!

Wow, I know what you are feeling. I had postpartum depression after the birth of my son. I was put on Wellbutrin and started doing much better. My problem came when my Dr put me on a double dose of Yaz to control my bleeding. I, like you, fell into a horrible depression on the Yaz. I was then changed to Effexor with Ambien at night. I did great for a long time. My husband and I decided to get pregnant again. My Dr told me that I couldn't take the Effexor during pregnancy. She switched me to Zoloft and kept me on the Ambien at night. I took Zoloft my entire third prgnancy. I had my daughter 12 days ago and have been struggling with post partum despite being on the Zoloft. I am going to see my Dr to be changed back to Wellbutrin or Effexor. I know that it is a really scary thing to take the risk of ever dealing with post partum again. I think with the right meds and support you can do it. Work with your Dr and have a plan for as soon as you give birth you can start back on your other meds (and stay away from Yaz it's evil). If you need some one to talk, write me.

i sent you a message but sent it under greetings instead, hope you still got it. one more thing - did you take ambien while pregnant? i only tried that once or twice, maybe that would help me more than clonazepam now.

I'm sorry I didn't get your message. Feel free to try again. I did take Ambien throughout my pregnancy. Ambien is catagorized with Tylenol (class B) and considered safe during pregnancy. It helped a lot.

Hey
Sorry, I forgot all what I wrote in my last message, but similarily I was on zoloft, then effexor, then when i thought i was doing well I weaned off effexor then a month later i took yaz and everything went downhill from there, they had me on celexa then which did nothing for me, then also zyprexa which helped me sleep but since i wasn't bipolar (at least that i know of haha) they took me off that, and eventually wellbutrin, thats when i started to feel like my old self again. How many years apart are your kids? my psych said wellbutrin is ok to take while pregnant, i'm thinking of staying on it. i take 100mg in morning. are you having any problems sleeping now, do you have help from family/friends?

Hi
I'm not sure if you are still checking this, but I am going through the same thing now. I was put on Zoloft and the dose was increased very fast, and now they are weaning me off of it to try something else. Maybe Wellbutrin will be the answer? I also went (am going) trhough terrible anxiety with sleep am and taking a very low dose of Xanex and Ambien. I feel like the end of this will never come! Please let me know if you have any advice! Thank you.
